Culminating in a large partially covered outdoor communal area overlooking the sea, the garden axis stretching in a linear manner from one end of the plot to the other becomes the main organizing factor of this multi-family compound. Prioritizing the familial values of gathering and community, the outdoor areas in this weekend beach house become the main event. A paved garden promenade frames the views to and from the sea and facilitates the organization of the four distinct residential units grouped around it. Maximizing the relationship between indoors and outdoors, all units have a multiplicity of interactions between in and out; views to the main garden promenade, views to the communal pool areas, private views and accesses to more secluded individual terraces and patios and most importantly direct views to the beach and sea.
The overall compound of four residential units is conceptualized as a continuous rigid linear mass that inflates in certain instances to create irregular site-specific intrinsic forms that float within the landscape. Each of the separate units is spread over both the ground and first floors. The units interconnect and crossover each other in a playful manner reminiscent of three-dimensional Tetris blocks extending each residence over the opposite to create bridge-like volumes that further define the garden promenade.
