Breaking free from the rigid geometry that surrounds the site, this project for the retired officers’ club seeks to introduce a calming and reflective presence for the user. Soft, amorphous forms flow around an artificial lake and through a carefully planted landscape, concealing and revealing privileged views between each programmatic element.
The surrounding vegetation besides giving a nice view and ambience for users, also provides air quality and thermal comfort.
The environmental design approach aims to maximize natural ventilated spaces. This is achieved by the covered exteriors that surround the entire buildings — allowing cross flow. The air movement is also enhanced by the permeable roof geometry.
Providing the space with openings on the roof, besides helping with natural ventilation, also helps on distributing filtered sunlight to the interior of the space, helping on decrease the artificial light consume, and also giving more comfort to the spaces.
