Since the 1980s, there has been a growing need for physical activities within urban environments. Gyms, jogging, running, and aerobics gained popularity as a part of a modern lifestyle. Soon, collective competitive sports such as tennis, squash, padel, and street basketball became fashionable among people of all fitness levels, not just professional athletes.

Padel, which originated from tennis and squash, was first played by boat crews in the early 20th century. In the 1960s, it evolved into the sport we know today, played in pairs on a specific type of court. Padel has become a popular sport in Saudi Arabia, particularly among young people.

To meet the needs of padel enthusiasts and practitioners, clubs and associations have been founded, along with the necessary infrastructures. Padel courts are now a part of the urban fabric, spread throughout the city as standalone facilities or within sports centers.

This project combines three padel courts, along with a backup service structure that includes a store, bathrooms, reception area, and an esplanade overlooking the courts. The use of prefabricated materials and parts ensures cost efficiency in construction, and the structure allows for future updates, modernization, or even total disassembly. It can adapt to changing needs, shrink or expand, support events and tournaments, and assume other functions. This dynamic, colorful volumetric system can withstand multiple branding and advertising, making it an evolutive urban structure.
