Kuwait Airspace Systems


Due to the Iraqi Aggression of Kuwait, key installations around Kuwait were destroyed by the Iraqi forces.  The Director General for Civil Aviation invited consultants to conduct a study for the Kuwait International Airport's Communication Center.  TAEP in association with  the US based firm of Jerry Thompson Associates were awarded the consultancy contract.
The scope of services included the prepration of a detailed technical sub master plan in compliance with the airport master plan and ICAO standards as applicable to equipment and procedures, define specifications, design and prepare tender requisitioning namely: radar, navigation and landing systems, AFTN, main pax, commuter data, wireless and cable networks, automation in air traffic management and other systems, remote monitoring and maintenence systems.
The total value of the designed package was KD 40 million (US $ 150 million) where TAEP gave only backup support to the JTA resident staff thru computer operators and one communiations engineer.  The package was not tendered due to lack of funds.
